How old do my Children have to be to start at St Thomas More?

St Thomas More School has a student enrolment population of approximately 260 students from Reception to Year 6. New enrolment enquiries for Reception to Year 6 are welcome throughout the course of the year.

IMPORTANT CHANGE TO THE SAME FIRST DAY START POLICY

It is with great pleasure that we share a very important change to the current Same First Day Start Policy.

Following a review, SACCS (South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools) has agreed to change the current policy. As a result of this change we are now eligible to have two Reception intakes per year, one at the beginning of Term 1 and the other at the beginning of Term 3. 

In summary this will mean:

• The criteria for starting Reception on the first day of school in Term 1 continues to be that the child will have turned 5 on or before 30 April in that year.
• The criteria for starting Reception on the first day of school in Term 3 is that the child will have turned 5 on or before 31 October in that year.
• Children whose birthday falls between 1 November and 31 December are not eligible to commence school before the following year.

Children who begin in Term 1 will have 4 terms of Reception.

Children who begin school in Term 3 will have 6 terms in Reception before moving into Year 1.
