Feast Day 2021
Today, 22 June, St Thomas More School celebrated one of the most important days of our school year Feast Day of our Patron Saint, Thomas More.
On this day in 1935 Thomas More, an English statesman, scholar, and author during the Reformation in the sixteenth century, was canonised by Pope Pius XI. Thomas More was recognised for his devotion to the Catholic faith during an extremely tumultuous time for Christianity.
Today we celebrated and gave thanks for Thomas More's life and celebrated his willingness to speak up for what he believed was right and just, even though it cost him his life.
Thomas More continues to be one of the most respected figures in English history, holding the position of Lord Chancellor during King Henry VIII's reign.
Our friends from our sister Mercy schools in the Playford area, St Mary Magdalene's and Catherine McAuley, helped us celebrate the day with beautiful gift baskets for students and staff. We also hosted a sausage sizzle for all students and enjoyed fun activities.
